Rain, frost, heat - the surface coverings on balconies and patio terraces have to withstand a lot. However, their principal enemy is water penetrating the structure of the covering through the joints. If the water is unable to drain away, damage is inevitable. Ceramic tiles, natural stone or concrete - if surface water penetrates and is not able to drain off quickly enough, it will soon lead to long-term problems such as frost damage, efflorescence, damp stains in natural stone or weed growth in loose-laid coverings.
