Outdoor areas, steps and stairhead
- The sophisticated design and the use of high-quality Valser quartzite natural stone demanded an appropriately designed drainage system, which is why AquaDrain® EK was used as a surface drainage.
- AquaDrain EK raises the covering over a large area. The drainage channels form a defined cavity; the drainage capacity for the entire construction is improved by a factor of almost 20. At the same time, the natural stone covering can dry more quickly, as the construction is back-ventilated.
- AquaDrain SD works in a similar manner. In contrast to the surface drainage, however, this system is made up of pre-formed angled elements – there is no need for extra cutting to make the mats fit the steps.
- Another challenge when building the AFG Centre was posed by transitions from outdoors to indoors. These were to be threshold-free and at the same time fit in with the design of the rest of the building.
