GUTJAHR system technology: a profile of the company
Draining, ventilating and uncoupling coverings safely: Gutjahr system technology specialises in those areas – on balconies, patios, terraces, on façades and in interiors. Since its founding in 1989, the company has been developing practical solutions to guarantee simple installation and long-lasting trouble-free coverings even on problem substrates. Now offering a range of about 300 products, Gutjahr has seen many years of continuous growth both in Germany and in many other European countries.
Walter Gutjahr, the founder of the company, also laid the foundation stone for its success in the mid-1980s. A master tiler and expert authority for the Cologne Chamber of Commerce, he knew exactly how little time it takes for balconies and patios to become damaged or lose their visual appeal – and in 1984 he filed an application for patent for the first anti-capillary surface drainage system. In 2002 this system was incorporated into the new technical bulletin for external floor coverings of the German Construction Industry Association (ZDB).
Since then, Gutjahr has considerably extended its range of products. Along with capillary-breaking drainage systems for terraces, balconies, outdoor steps and drive-on surfaces, the company offers further "problem solvers": sealing systems, for example. Drain grates for threshold-free access or edge profiles and balcony gutters in durable aluminium. Uncoupling systems, shower gullies and underfloor heating systems complete our interior range. The company has also won several prizes for innovation and in 2012 it gained an award as one of the Top 100 companies. Since 2014, Gutjahr has been part of the Ardex Group.
Maximum safety for outdoor surface coverings
Since 1990, GUTJAHR has been the only manufacturer to offer extended warranties for its drainage systems, e.g. 6 years for balconies, patios and outdoor steps with AquaDrain® drainage.
